The course is aligned with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and aims to ensure that practitioners are equipped to assess competently within a range of learning environments.

The Thuto Teach Basic ECD Workshop is a practical training program designed to equip early childhood educators with essential skills to support children's development. The workshop covers key areas such as fine and gross motor development, sensory activities, repetition work charts, and lesson planning. Participants engage in hands-on activities, gaining practical tools to create stimulating learning environments. The workshop empowers educators to enhance their teaching practices and promote holistic growth in young children.

Nutrition is essential for health, well-being, and growth, especially in early childhood. It involves consuming a balanced diet rich in energy and essential nutrients. However, poor nutrition can lead to various deficiencies and health issues. A 2012 study by the Human Sciences Research Council for South Africa’s Department of Health revealed alarming rates of malnutrition among children aged 0-3 years, including stunting, wasting, underweight, and obesity, each associated with specific health risks.

Our workshop aims to empower ECD caregivers and practitioners with the knowledge and skills to provide nutritious, affordable, and safe food. It covers the importance of nutrition in early years, healthy eating guidelines, cost-effective meal preparation, child health services, and hygiene practices. This initiative is vital for fostering better health and development outcomes for young children.
